One more tribute...
Feb. 3rd, 2006 07:38 amFirst of all, R. has his moments which most of you have probably already figured this out or why would I have married him in the first place, right? We were oil and water together. But he and I and L.C. and Skip had worked many gigs together and I wasn't sure how quickly anyone would've told him the news.
I wanted to share with you his return email that I received this morning. It is another tribute to a wonderful man we'll all miss.
And I quote:
"Thank you Susi for telling me. I had however gotten a phone call this morning around 7:30 am from his brother in law. I did not know the final story though and appreciate your information.
In last December I had booked LC in over $9000 worth of Santa Claus gigs, which must be some sort of record for this area. His natural way with kids and the gentle humor he used with them made him VERY popular. He told me that there was no more of a beloved character than Santa Claus and he felt a lot of that love when he portrayed him.
It is indeed a shock but after getting over it I thought “Good for you LC” for checking out so quickly. He lived right up to his last moment, he did not linger in life wishing for the way it used to be. Good for him.
A poem went through my mind as I worked today and I will share it with you:
He Lived.
We laughed.
He died.
We cried.
Draw curtain slowly.
Bring up house lights.
Thanks again for thinking of me to share the news."
