The coolest vendor ever is Ron from Storm Knight Jewelry. I'd taken my broken crown to him to see if perhaps he might figure out how to fix it. He worked and considered and figured and finally, on Saturday he said that 'barring unforeseem problems' I should have it back the next day.

Sunday morning, his son showed up after our first show with a familiar cardboard box in hand. Looking inside, wrapped carefully, was a flawlessly repaired crown. I brought it out to the ooohs and aaaahs of friends around; the crown seeing the sunlight for the first time in several years. And it sparkled as if it knew it was under admiration and close scrutiny. Someone said, "Which one was broken?" and I couldn't remember. Ron's son (damned if I don't know his name!) pointed it out.

Then I asked, "So how much do I owe your father?" He shook his head; not a dime will he take as recompense for his hard and beautiful work. I was speechless...I know, that hardly ever happens.

So on our afternoon break, Bruce and I went up to Storm Watch and I am now the proud owner of a lovely necklace made of a treskillion, an oak leaf and a beautiful mystic topaz cab which is uniquelly cut from underneath. And Ron still gave me the performers' discount.

Yeah, he's a good guy...and he's going to be at White Hart Faire. (www.historic-arts.com)
