Had a wonderful gig at the Tipperary Inn in Dallas last evening. Lovely pub, lovely staff, friends coming to see us and [livejournal.com profile] shaddowshoes set sound for us with [livejournal.com profile] youngraven played a bit of bodhran with us and gave me some valuable advice that might mean I don't totally give up on it yet.

Hard work, indeed, and getting used to listening to ourselves on a monitor but gods, it was fun!

Again? *sigh* Gigs like that don't come around every week but it was wondermous. We did everything but about maybe six on our list; nice to know we have enough for nearly four hours with no repeats. And yes, I did a "Grania" that about knocked my socks off!

Now on to Scarby for about half a day to see all the folk we love there....family!

Back home from a sadly truncated (but happy we could be there at all!)trip to Scarborough and very tired but as I got this reply to my email from David Lawrence, I wanted to post it since the event is tomorrow night.

For those who are local/near to Tulsa and wanting to hear Queen's Gambit (and some additional musicians, too, I believe) this is the adapted message from David Lawrence to me this evening:

The Ancient Order of Hibernians (www.aoh.com) , Bobby Sands, MP, Division 1 of Tulsa is hosting musicians and friends who to get together and play some Irish Rebel songs to commemorate the Proclamation of the Republic, Easter Monday, 1916.

The event will be at Arnie's, second and Elgin, downtown Tulsa. Event includes a reading of the Proclamation and pot-luck dinner.

When I asked him if this was a closed event, his quick reply was, "Please-- all are welcome!" which is just lovely. So anyone who wants to come and hear some Irish Rebellion music tomorrow night, please join us. Since they're also having a pot-luck dinner, I'd imagine that bringing something to share would be highly appropriate.

Look forward to seeing some of our Tulsa friends there!
