And we're off...

...for another weekend's adventure.
Just a quick post this morning and then I have lots to do to get ready.
But in driving with Bruce to work so that we can go straight to the airport this evening I was struck with some thoughts that I wanted down here so I can remember this.
First, it's Veteran's Day. Last evening we were at the send-off party for a dear friend who's on his was "over there" and I was struck by the level of support that he and his family are receiving and the air of positive resolve and solid good comradry there. This guy leaves knowing that he has loved ones here to take care of things while he's gone and to be thinking of him while he's there. It was lovely. This is as fine a gentleman as I know, and that's saying a lot! I am privileged to know and love some amazing people, many of whom own blue garters.
No matter your politics it is proper today to be grateful for the lives and sacrifices of those who have protected us and our liberties, both past and present. No matter what you may feel for any elected official or any policies, it is still possible to respect and support those who safeguard us; who do that job that many of us, myself most definitely included, would not or could not do for ourselves. I for one, am immensely proud and grateful to all those who serve and have served, whether at home or abroad, in times of peace, war or disaster. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, from the bottom of my heart.
On the drive back home, looking at and deeply appreciating the beauty of the remaining fall colors and listening on radio to the perfect music for my mood, I was stricken with sheer joy and gratitude for my place in life, my friends, my family and all that is in my life now; such bliss that I was nearly overwhelmed. There are not adequate words to express my joy and my gratitude, tears of joy help to keep me in check; may look silly to those driving by me but who cares! If I could bottle how I'm feeling now, we'd be rich - richer than we are in all the things that really matter. I have work to do that uses my talents and brings both me and others joy, I have health and vitality, I have achievable goals and the abilities and energy to achieve them, I have wonderful heart-family and bio-family to share with...I could go on and on listing the blessings in my life.
Most of all I'm grateful for the wonderfully like-minded, generous, intelligent, gentle, strong and loving partner in my life. I'm so incredibly blessed to have won his love; to be able to love and be loved by such a wonderful man; to be able to explore and decide our own path, consciously examining societal programming and communicating all along the way, every step of the journey and loving each new adventure.
Yeah, life is good.
And now I must get busy and DO stuff.
Be good to one another today, ok? I love you all!
