Oh yes....
One more thing. Go read this. Then do something about it.
"My name is Connor Cochran. I work with Peter S. Beagle, the man who wrote THE LAST UNICORN, A FINE AND PRIVATE PLACE, the "Sarek" episode of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, and the screenplay to the original animated LORD OF THE RINGS (not to mention a whole lot of other classic genre works). Right now Peter needs help -- BIG help. Which is why I'm sounding as loud a rallying cry as I can. You will find all the details up on the web at http://www.conlanpress.com/youcanhelp."
Why do people think they can get away with stuff like this?

There is an old joke in Hollywood that goes "Contract? Of course we have to have a contract! If we don't have a contract, what basis do we have for renegotiation?"
I'm afraid that in this case your analysis is wrong. The problem is not with Peter's contract. The problem is that the other side is blatantly violating that contract, based on provably fraudulent accounting, and relying on the fact that they are Very Big (and therefore very costly to sue) to get away with it.
With help from Peter's fans, we can show them that their size will not protect them.
Simple as that.

Hoping for your success; this is the sort of thing that makes my 'bleeding heart' pulse and my red-headed temper heat up. There wasn't anybody there to fight for my intellectual rights when I needed it. But my motto is bearing fruit; "Living well is the best revenge!"

After going through a rough time (yes, that is a bit of understatement) I've moved to a new area with a new partner and have started over. The statue thing may revive again since no one is doing it around here, if I can find the time! But I've been seduced by Celtic music and am now spending my time here: www.queens-gambit.com
Well, I do.
There are some things that are just right and wrong. And I may not be able to do much, but I'll do what I can.

it's not much...

I'm going to write a bunch of letters in my mother's best "I don't like your attitude!" style.

It reminds me a bit of when my ex stupidly went out by himself for some off-trail mountain riding and broke both forearms. Very sad...he's self employed as a clown and stilt-walker so having such a dangerous hobby begs the question of his possessing any common sense at all.
Of course, all his performing friends did a 'benefit show' fundraiser for him and showered him with care and concern.
But then came the time a couple of years later that he cheated me out of my half of the business. StatuEscapades; the statue business which I'd started under the umbrella of his entertainment company which was MY idea and which was covered in the divorce decree. He got around it by simply refusing to give me the referrals since all the clients only know to call him!
I was penniless and in debt and out of luck and yes, I had made some stupid decisions .... but was there anybody there then to help me out and offer me sympathy or anything? Nope. I made it, of course, but....
Yeah, some things are just right and wrong.
