One....

...quick story between mopping the kitchen floor and going out to fight with the bermuda grass a little more. And after that hopefully, I can finish the official wedding post.

This past Friday, after Bruce got home and we got stuff together, we were busily packing for the trip up to KC. We'd decided to take the car since it gets better gas milage than the van, especially as there's only two of us coming up this season.

We got everything in the trunk, checked the house, made sure everything was locked and the packing list completed. Then we got into the car and took off with the radio on, as usual. As we went down our block when we heard a quiet "meow." We looked at one another, unsure if it was coming from the radio or elsewhere. Bruce turned off the radio and we heard, "meow!" Bruce said, "BrokenTail, right?" and I answered, "Yep, I think so too."

He turned the car around in a driveway and heard another "MEOW" as we headed back for the house. I said, "Hold on, baby, we'll be right there" and got "ME-WOW!" as a response. Soon as we pulled to a stop in the driveway, he popped the lid and I ran around to get the poor cat out of the trunk.

Who should pop out of the back of the trunk, looking entirely indignant about the stupid humans shutting her in, but little miss Princess Penny. I picked her up and took her back into the house, petting and cooing and trying to calm her imperial highness's distressed feeling.

Then we closed the garage door and laughed our way back up the block again, heading for KC.

Yeah, poor baby, she's still miffed about being laughed at...

[identity profile] rowangolightly.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, she's our baby....the one who sleeps with, no, on us at night and has her morning 'tuna' on top of the kitchen counter.

Not spoiled at all, no...

Kitty wanted to go to Faire!

Then changed her mind if it meant riding in the trunk!!

[identity profile] rowangolightly.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
She liked to as long as the trunk door was up!

*chuckle* She wouldn't like faire AT ALL!

Poor baby, decided she didn't want to play afterall!

[identity profile] rowangolightly.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)

BWAHAHA!!

*dead from laughter*

Oh, sweet Francis. That made me cry laughing so hard, and then I read it to mom so she could laugh, too!

Silly Penny-girl.

Yeah, I knew you'd appreciate that one!

Lucky you didn't get pulled over by a cop. Last thing you need is a record for smuggling pussy across state lines...

*snicker*

Someone had to say it.

*facepalm*

And it HAD to be you...

I will never forget driving from Iowa to Minnesota one frigid Sunday night when I was about six. We pulled into our dark, frosty driveway to unload the bags from a weekend at Grandma's. Who jumped out but one of Grandma's mostly feral farm cats. We kept the poor thing in the garage for a couple of weeks until we could return it to the farm. I'm pretty sure she never jumped into a trunk again.

*hahahaha* Yeah, I'm sure!

A few days after I got the Suburban I had to fight Jerry from putting her kittens in.

And...

Last night I left the window down on it and Napoleon (Kims' cat) decied to make the dash his bed. I walked out to take the Squire to school and there he was stretched out asleep.

*lol* Gotta love 'em, don't we (or we'd kill them!)

Minko loves to lay on top of the van....clear on top. I can see him there from my sewing room window. I'm always half tempted to toss a spool of thread or something at him, he looks so relaxed and king-of-the-pile-ish.

OMG! Thats funny. Ava locked our kitty Roxy in the pantry yesterday and she's STILL pissed off at us and acting very snotty BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!
Oh my, aren't kitties just the best?

[identity profile] rowangolightly.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
No kidding.....who needs television!

*giggles* Poor kitty. My "kitten" got locked out of the apartment one day when I had a show day. I don't know what he did all day but gods did he scare me. I got home and he wasn't waiting right inside the door but I could hear him meowing. I checked everywhere and finally opened the front door. There he was, relieved that I'd saved him.

[identity profile] rowangolightly.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, we have one who also likes to lay down inside opened drawers. I ALWAYS check drawers before I close them to make sure she's not taking a nap inside!

One of my cats growing up liked to hide in the dryer when clothes were done until the day that he was accidentally trapped in it. He didn't get hurt but there were two loud "ka-thunks" and mom opened the dryer door. Little Kitty came barreling out and ran away in terror whenever it was on for several months which wasn't helpful because we fed them on top of the dryer....

[identity profile] theferret.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I should also mention that Little Kitty was about 20 pounds at the time. We're lucky he didn't damage the dryer...

Just getting to this one (now that the Weber grill coals are lit). Years ago, I borrowed hay for the horses from a friend, since my hay guy couldn't deliver mine because of rain. When he came through, I loaded my husband's pickup with hay bales and headed off to her barn.

About three miles down the road, I saw this cat (see icon) in my rear-view mirror, peering at me through the back of the cab window! I pulled over and managed to throw her into the cab.

Scared me to death. What if she'd jumped or fallen off along the way?

Cats are SO funny!
