Ach, what a shame. I knew/know some Rom folk who used to do KCRF; tighly-knit family (as they had to be) but dear folk and SO very giving and loyal once you'd won their trust.

Indeed. There may be a few communities in the hills that welcome them, but mostly people have become so xenophobic that all travelers are met with distrust these days.

Well, it's also not just now-a-days, truly. Right after O'Flaherty's I posted about a session I listened in on with a wonderful Irish Uillean piper, Mickey Dunn, who comes from an itinerant Irish musical famiy. He and his 10 brothers and sisters were born and raised in a vardo, travelling all over Ireland with his father the sole wage earner from his music. The stories of bigotry and hatred he told were heart-breaking. But he's an amazing man, so loving and sharing and talented.

This seems to be a theme lately...must be telling me something, since I found that Vardo link today. Hmmm...

Oh - and speaking of travelers in general - we are going to see Alexander James Adams for the first time this weekend at Orycon on Sunday. Should be a delight!

Oh, how wonderful! If you get the chance please give him and Corey our love!

Will do - if the chance arises - the crowd is usually dense here. But the concert is at an odd time - 10 AM Sunday morning. Hmmm...

*sigh*

Ya know, one of our band goals is to start doing more Cons... but damn, how to fit the weekends and expenses in!
