Support Campbell's Soup and give the finger to gay-bashing homophobes

Found this over at [livejournal.com profile] gamera_spinning's and whole-heartedly agree with him.

Short version: Campbell's bought two two-page advertisements in the December and January issues of The Advocate, which features a lesbian couple and their son, and apparently the Catholic Church thinks this is going to destroy the fabric of civilization and the folks at catholic.com are apparently asking folks to call Campbell's to protest their "supporting the homosexual agenda".

Here's the nonsense over at Catholic Forums, wanting folk to contact the CEO of Campbell's to pressure him to take the ads down. I don't think so.

You can see the oh-so-horrific ads here:

Already sent off my email to this man in support of his advertising choices!

Why is the Catholic church reading The Advocate, a magazine specifically geared to the GLBT community?

Oh yeah - the priests subscribe, right?

There's probably some kind of formal position for hunting down these 'threats' -- someone gets to moan and groan about the sacrifice they make, doing this for their community...and then lock themselves in their office and...moan and groan. Kinda like how Bush had his own little workforce of porn hunters.

Yes, there are - they're called The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congregation_for_the_Doctrine_of_the_Faith) and Opus Dei (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opus_dei).

Also, note nuggets 5 & 6 here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congregation_for_the_Doctrine_of_the_Faith#Recent_opinions_and_publications

I don't know why, but #6 makes me giggle...I have no idea what to say about 5, though.....

CDF is the modern name for what used to be the Holy Office of the Inquisition.

Oh, THAT'S reassuring! /sarcasm

So the Mormons and the Catholics each think that the other is "the Great Whore" ....wow, how nice that everybody can get along, ya know?

Clinkerbuilt's Rules of Religious Validity:

1. The Divine does not require spin-control.

2. The Divine does not experience cash-flow issues.

3. The validity of any religion is directly proportional to its tolerance of non-believers.

Any questions?

Like those! I have just one:

God = Love

I like it simple.

Sadly, you're too trusting -- I have to operate in a litigious environment all the time, so I have to give no room for maneuver.

My version of that, incidentally, goes:

Why? Be.

I have found that to be true in the last few years but I still prefer it as a default trait in preference to bitterness; at one point that was an either/or proposition for me.

I'll extend trust, just so far, until it is proven one way or another. That seems to work fairly well for me. As, head of an entertainment business, a Minister and when playing Queen, being open and trusting is what I need to be. I have to take it on an individual basis and take the risk.

Which is why we would make the fab-o team - You're able to trust people, where I generally don't... ;-)

*hehehe* Absolutely!

No doubt...
