Dec. 24th, 2003 10:18 am1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before? Take a cross-country motorcycle trip - amazing, astonishing and a blast
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't make specific, formal resolutions. I make general character ones and try to live up to them.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Susan's now a grandma!
4. Did anyone close to you die? Yes and I still miss Mom every day
5. What countries did you visit? no - missed my annual trip to England
6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003? Financial security
7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? the weekend of August 10; the events surrounding my birthday and Bruce/my 'coming out' as a couple; probably the most joyous weekend I've ever experienced
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? learning all that new music!
9. What was your biggest failure? The events surrounding the move
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? nope, other than some minor back stuff
11. What was the best thing you bought?
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Bruce's this summer - his courage and emotional honesty in the face of deceipt and betrayal
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Tim's
14. Where did most of your money go? paying bills
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? the amazing birthday present

i. happier or sadder? much happier
ii. Smaller or larger? smaller, and happily, not through dieting extremes
iii. richer or poorer? about the same, but far richer emotionally
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? practicing clarity with friends

20. How will you be spending Christmas? with Bruce and his family in southern Oklahoma - and hopefully making lots of music with Bruce and Amber

24. What was your favorite TV program? I really don't watch tv
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? no, but I've distanced myself from a few because of their judgmental behavior
26. What was the best book you read? Eleanor of Aquitaine and the Four Kings
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? that I have the voice to do lead vocals and the capacity to entertain musically in a stage show format
28. What did you want and get? Bruce's love
29. What did you want and not get? the help and consideration of some friends on whom I thought I could count
30. What was your favorite film of this year? most recently - 'Pirates'

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? being able to spend more time with my sister
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003? My fashion concept is always my own - classic, off-beat and dramatic
34. What kept you sane? I don't have problems with sanity - it's dealing with stress that I work on.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I'm probably the most anti-pop culture person you'll find
36. What political issue stirred you the most? the war, of course! The loss of personal liberties and the suppression of individualism under the mask of political necessity concerns me greatly.
37. Who did you miss? spending time with Susan due to mutually busy schedules
38. Who was the best new person you met? Starting to get to know Mel better - what a neat lady she is!
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003: Reality is what's inside your own head but actuality is what's really happening. People are not going to behave according to the standards you hold for yourself. You can't depend too much on friends whose priorities have changed but then others will astonish you with their generosity of heart and restore your hope. Behave the way that you know you must in the face of contrary judgment. And, finally, if you find your heart's desire - hold on to it gently, nuture it and treasure it. Tranquility comes from knowing where your path leads and following that path - come what may.
