I stopped liking April Fool's Day after I read "Stranger in a Strange Land" and realized (like Michael Valentine Smith) that human jokes were most often based on something that caused pain and anguish to someone else. That was a real eye-opener for me.
As for clowns, I freely admit to being coulrophobic. No trigger that I know of, just a basic uneasiness when confronted by one. I avoid them whenever possible.
