Lovely to be working at home today and lots to do! I MUST finish Paul Peterman's doublet and go help Jeanne D. fit her bodice. She's been just about as busy as I have, because both of her kids came home unexpectedly from their military service in the Mid-East! (yay! I guess I'd kinda kept them in a corner of my mind, but my relief can't begin to match hers)
I found out that my job at the Zoo really does end September 1 - dammit. That's a full two months sooner than we'd expected with everyone talking about celebrating Halloween out there. Oh well! I know I'll be leaving with a great reputation and that's a lovely feeling.
It does mean that I'll be able to do more of KCRF this year. It'll be wierd having no comp tickets to spread around to friends. And I still won't be there much of the first weekend. But I'm glad I'm working so hard on the fencing - I know lots of eyes will be on me this year. I'm committed to having fun, doing the job as I know it should be done and not getting into (or allowing myself to be dragged there!) a negative space out there.
I've never been the sort to take my marbles and go home, and then bitch from the outside; it's much better to try to work positively from within. I just can't work within the framework of the Entertainment Department this year but it is still my 25th Anniversary season (maybe I'll buy myself a silver pocketwatch!) We'll see if I like the sort of freedom that being out there with Five Rings Fencing Club allows me. I've been asked (Russ begged me on bended knee!) to do the Smoker and I look forward to some singing in the lanes with Bruce (gods, I've got lots of music to learn!)
Well back to work!
