I've gotten into a bit of a bind. I loaned out my O grommet setter and we keep missing on getting it returned. I emailed her when I got back from CA but I guess she's already up in KC for the Irish Fest. I've gone to the local leather shop THREE times over the last two or three months, including yesterday and they keep saying, "oops, it hasn't come in!" I told them that they were KILLING me and he thought I was joking. I told him he was losing LOTS of business by not stocking what local costumers need on a regular basis. I guess I'm too nice.

Well, now I need to grommet Becky's new surcoat and I'm in deep doo because I don't have a single-O grommet setter; I have a OO setter but not the O size. I want/need to order the big-ol'-heavy duty kind that bolts to the table (once I figure out exactly which one I want) but obviously, that won't help me now.

I need this kind but in the O size:

Haven't looked in a year or more, but Home Depot had them in the "tools" section for about $8. Definitely not as high a quality as what you have (or want, or need) but not horrible, either, and will definitely work in a pinch! If you decide to go that route, find a store employee and, when you ask for grommets, qualify the question with a clause like, "You know, to strengthen the corners of a tarp?" and they'll be much more likely to have a clue.... They have larger sizes, but used to carry the "O" size as well...

I really need to get "OO" size myself!

Well, mine is being brought to me this weekend but I'm DEFINITELY in the market for a good solid table-top one. I'm tired of making do.

But thanks, that's a good thing to know in a pinch.

The leather shop near me has 'em in 1-2-3-4 but not 0. grrr... I only use 00 for small stuff or small people; the 0 size is easier to for lacing if there's a chance it might have to be straight-laced at one point or another.

Yay for getting yours back! The Home Depot one is ok for "in a pinch" but definitely not high quality.

I normally use 0, but would like 00 at some point for my brother's kids and non-bodice work on occasion. Thus far the price tag has been a stopper, and I'm sad about the lack of color-options in the grommets. Though I've not checked lately it used to be silver and gold only, and I mostly use black with the occasional white, almost never using silver/goldish...

I have an 00 setter as pictured above, actually I have 2 so if you want one, you can have one of mine.

Really? You're awesome! (ok, so I knew that already, but even so!)

Not sure what my fall plans are to come to KC, am hoping to be there at least one weekend. Will keep you posted?
