Well, this has certainly gotten off to a whiz-bang of a start. It appears as though I'm going to be making a whole bunch of apple butter, pumpkin, zucchini and banana bread between now and Thanksgiving. Yep, I'm calling this "RowanTreats" because that's the best title I've been able to think of; improvements to that idea are always welcome.

The post this afternoon, inquiring into pricing and interest garnered more interest than I'd expected so now I need to make it more official.

THIS IS THE ORDERING POST FOR APPLE BUTTER and BAKED GOODS.

If you're wanting to order one of the following items, please leave a comment. All comments will be screened because I will need contact info so fulfill all the orders. What I need specifically is:
Your *real* name, your address, phone number and email address.
Which item you want to order, the number of units you want to order
If there is a specific timeline in which you want to receive the products.

I can't start making apple butter until this weekend, and the baking of the breads will have to be after Halloween/Samhain as I have too many sewing deadlines to complete any before then. Each one will have a sticker with the ingredients listed; there will be no preservatives whatsoever in any of the product, including the eggs which are local and free range. The loaves of bread are full-sized loaves, not the little mini-size.

Here are your options:

Apple Butter, original recipe @ $5/pint
Apple Butter, agave/honey @ $5/pint
Apple Butter, no added sugar @4.50/pint
Lemon Curd @ $6/pint
Pumpkin Bread, original (add chocolate chips and/or pecans) $7/loaf
Pumpkin Bread, Splenda (add chocolate chips and/or pecans) $7/loaf
Zucchini Bread, original (add chocolate chips and/or pecans) $7/loaf
Zucchini Bread, Splenda (add chocolate chips and/or pecans) $7/loaf
Banana Bread, original (add chocolate chips and/or pecans) $7/loaf
Banana Bread, Splenda (add chocolate chips and/or pecans) $7/loaf

NOTE: Pricing on breads has increased due to more current market research. Those of you who have already ordered still get the original price!

So to demonstrate, an order would look like this:

Susi Matthews
236434 Hungry Street, Apr 2345
City, ST Zip
(813) 234-3456 (random, not real)
sweets@email.com

1 loaf, zucchini bread with chocolate chips and nuts
2 pints apple butter, original recipe
Total spent: $15

I have to look into shipping before I can pass along those costs. And my preferred method of payment is PayPal, to the address rowangolightly (at) gmail (dot) com. If you're local, cash also works.

THANK YOU!

*whew* That brings the price up per pint a whole bunch. Thanks, that's very helpful. I think I'll do just that.

And the good thing about using USPS priority is that they'll send you shipping boxes for free. I already have some...

yeah i was going to say the USPS does that thing where the cost is the same regardless what you're shipping as long as it fits in the box. not sure what that cost is though. but it'd be worth checking out.

i lurves me some punkin bread, too. once you get shipping costs and all that squared away and posted, i might be placing an order.

Yeah, I have a friend who's starting a "business help" business who is going to do research and figure out the best/cheapest way to send this stuff out.

But I suspect that USPS will end up being the cheapest.

Anytime, dear. I'll be posting this fairly frequently for people to make orders.

Hey there, update for you. I will be posting updates on how the baking and stuff is coming in a little bit. Lemon curd will have to wait a bit until I can find/buy some 1/2 pint jars.

Some of the breads will be baked this week; shipping is being researched today, so I'll have more news for you later today.

*hugs*

What size loafs are you making, sis? The reason I ask is that a 1 1/2 pound loaf of specialty bread (and I'm talking just regular potato bread) runs for 7.00 + down here. don't undercut yourself.

Huh, ya don't say!

Yeah, these are regular large loaves from a regular loaf pan, I'd imagine about 1-1/2 pound sounds about right. Ok, prices on those about to go up but of course, I'll keep it what it was for those who have already ordered.

Thanks, brother-dear!

this is one of those moments where I am annoyed by the distance between us. Shipping would be horrendous on the yummy goods to my place. hmm... wonder if gas is cheaper than the shipping cost? anyone else up for a road trip to invade Rowan for her yummies?

Date: 2010-11-01 02:32 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rowangolightly.livejournal.com
Shipping shouldn't actually be that bad; I know txreisiende is ordering some. *grin* But an invasion would be fun!

From: [identity profile] murphyslover.livejournal.com
hmm, with that in mind... should you be "able" to come this way for txreisende's housewarming... I do have a few goodies I would like to order. But give my own fun money issues may have to wait until end of this month... is there a dead line for ordering?

I haven't set a deadline, really. I *love* to bake and cook so this is an enjoyable thing for me. I can make apple butter as long as I can get nice apples for around .99 per pound. I'm planning in getting several more baking pumpkins while they're on sale, baking & pureeing & and food-saving them in the freezer so that's no problem.

If I can come to the housewarming, I'll give advance notice and come stocked with orders ready and more goodies along if people want to buy them then. Heck, if that could make the trip pay for itself, that's a good incentive! I really need to shop for one client's fabric so that's another good incentive to come, besides seeing all the friends down there I love that I haven't seen in WAY too long.

Hi! I saw my name in the "have yet to receive specific orders" post.

I won't be ordering anything right now; maybe after the monster cell phone bill shock is over.

That's kinda what I figured, hon, I knew your's was probably a "wonder how much it would cost to ship" as opposed to an order.

I'm sure I'll be making this stuff for awhile to come, at least so long as I can get good apples inexpensively.

Yes, they'll absolutely freeze well. I'm shipping them in aluminum foil within a freezer baggie so it can go in the freezer just 'as is.'

Thanks!

Oh, you will be there this weekend? That's awesome!

Can I ask you to transport some jars of Apple Butter back to Kit H.? She wants some more but shipping is $11 and if you'd take it to her, that would save both of us tremendously.
