Gotta love....

I love Gmail links with my email account. I find some of the niftiest stuff there.
This morning it was a link to an interview with Dick Van Dyke. Now anybody know knows me at all, knows how much I adore him; what an amazing man, performer and human being. There are three comedians I idolize; Dick Van Dyke, Red Skelton and Danny Kaye. Yeah, LOVE!
This made me smile:

Mom and I used to watch the Dick Van Dyke show together and Red Skelton and any Danny Kaye movie we could find. Lovely memories!
I need to own "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!" I've seen it but it's been a very long time.
*ROFL* And then, gmail gives me this link:

Date: 2009-01-27 05:39 pm (UTC)And Red was one of my mom's favorites. He was pointed out to me in a Hawaii airport my first time there - he was wheelchair bound and in town for an art showing of his work. I remember only because I knew I had to tell my mom all about it when we got home (I was vacationing with aunt and uncle).

Date: 2009-01-27 06:15 pm (UTC)I saw a great speech he gave when he was at the dedication of a street named after him, and he told the story of how he met Stan Laurel (of Laurel and Hardy), who was aged and retired at that point, and was given the famous bow tie Laurel always wore in the movies. And he wore it to the dedication. I'll admit, that choked me up just a touch.
